I was hoping to switch to eggs and poultry as a mainstay which would be Paleo; now you have me worried! I accept what you say about grains being unnatural for hens (apart from in the harvest season), and that the poultry around us now are significantly different from the poultry of Java Man. But I'll be running the hens free range and organic with plenty of greens, insects etc. as they forage around the fallow parts of my vegetable garden. As to the animals themselves, I'd assumed contemporaty poultry would be no further from the Paleolithic phenotype than Bos taurus. Or am I mistaken? Do you have references to any discussion on this topic? Another option for me would be Guinea Pigs or Rabbits, but they don't lay eggs! (My main meat will still be fresh kangaroo - about as Paleo as you can get!) Keith
