Hey was this project the old edison Labs in South orange???? West Orange. Except that the bldg they were working on is Edison's ORIGINAL lavatory, which Henry Ford had moved to Greenfield Village, and our good buds disassembled and reassembled in Joisey.
loved that place;  Isn't it great? love the history on this guy what was the story about  his fight with Westing House over A./C vs D/C is this why we have 110 today ???  I dunno about the specifics of the voltage, but Edison lost (after a LONG fight) and Westinghouse and the AC boys won.  However, it turns out there are a lot of orphan DC installations still around; elevators ran on DC for a very long time, and some of the antique ones still do.
Didn't  Thomas Alva invent the electric chair  There was a history of The Chair on the Hitlery Channel not long ago, on a program about the history of execution methods.  Needless to say, I don't remember the specifics, but the AC/DC fight got brought into The Chair, and I think Edison and Westinghouse both wanted the other's power system used to feed The Chair, to discredit the enemy by showing how dangerous the Other system was.   There was also some film of an elephant being electricuted (humanely, of course).
Didnt he build some of the first concrete houses (fireproof)??? Yeah, he had a system of molds and built a bunch of concrete houses in North Joisey. I think he also had his own cement too.  Yep.  I think the cement business didn't work out too well for him, but it wasn't as bad as the Make Rubber Out Of Goldenrod Project.
I know he made the fist film  the great train robbery; but did he not dabble
in the viewscopes with the naughty pictures  that pre date motion pictures
that gave 42 st a bad rap????  and the last question is where is he buried ? He's buried on the grounds of his house, which is also in West Orange.  Both the house and Lavatory are closed until God (or Deb) knows when for restoration.  It's hard to imagine that they could be better after they're fixed than they were before; it's a fabulous place.
