HE DOESN'T FEEL SAFE W/O A SEATBELT.

Ralph & Michael: My stepfather having spent an odd hour or two of his life as a stock car driver back in the days when it was only mud track always insisted from day one of our lives that we wear seatbelts. It dates back to when having seatbelts meant that you were the "risky" sort. I don't feel comfortable either without seatbelts, or a hat for other reasons, and the car does not move until the seat belts are all fastened.

Now, this did not preclude me from driving a Falcon station wagon with a door strapped to the top and all my friends riding on the door along dirt roads or through farmer's fields and holding on with their hands. It was in that car I gave Daniel Berrigan a ride to the movies.
