I think one of the juiciest parts, which I would hope was in this book, is the part where he testifies to the senate subcommity on Iran contra to the effect that he didn't know if Cap Weinberger kept a diary, but in a later interview let it slip that he did know.

It's been a while since I read My American Journey - I think he is a "native" American, if y'all get my drift.  I'll have to look it up to double check, though.  It's a good read - lots of juicy lines that beg to be highlighted and read again.

More fuel for the democratic fire:

"I am angry that so many of the sons of the powerful and well-placed... managed to wangle slots in Reserve and National Guard units...Of the many tragedies of Vietnam, this raw class discrimination strikes me as the most damaging to the ideal that all Americans are created equal and owe equal allegiance to their country." (Colin Powell’s autobiography, My American Journey, p. 148)

I just knew I liked Powell.  But wasn't he born in Jamaica or some damn place, so we can't get him for President?
