Luckily, there were some drummers who kept us from falling asleep. Just as we had begun marching, a man in a wheelchair pulled up next to mine and I gave him a smile, he patted my head (what's he doing, I wondered?) then I tried to shake his hand, and he kissed my hand and as I was laughing embarrassedly, he took off. The day had dawned bright and clear, And I took that as a sign from God that he wanted this protest to happen. As we marched, a passionate man with a guitar began singing Imagine, and as Lace pushed me, I signed the song in American sign language... He stayed by my side for the song, then left us at one point, but I heard him later on, over a microphone on wheels. He walked sideways, while playing the guitar and keeping up with the microphone. He then started singing MASTERS OF WAR, which I've never heard Joan sing. At the end of that a few of us appalled, and then I heard a woman shouting, "'Please remember why we are here." Don't know if that was Joan or not. Presumably the person didn't like the ending of masters of war... The walk seemed to take much longer this time. It is estimated that between 12 and 20 city blocks full of people. By the time we got to the rally site, I think I had missed hearing Joan singing, we heard 4 speakers then Bonnie Raite sang a song... Heard 4 more speakers, so we left. and came home on Bart. BTW: Bart said that 150,000 people had ridden the trains that morning, so 150,000 is the *least* number. They had added many more trains today, so it ran very well. Unfortunately By the time I got home, and turned on the news, there was some clashes with the cops about 100 still being contained. not good for the movement.
