I know there is an import/export option for oe6, although at times I've had trouble with it. You can export it into outlook format, then use outlook to archive your emals, however, I prefer to back it up manually. The way to do it in win98 is to go into c:\windows\Application Data\Identities\Outlook Express. You will see a folder with an alphanumeric title. In there you will see your inbox, outbox, and other folders. Copy those onto a zip drive. In OE6, you can then export all your addresses by going into file-export- address book. It will export all your addresses into a text format. Next you should export your mail settings by going into tools-accounts and hitting the export button. Once you've backed everthing up, you can perform the clean install and start OE. You can import the address book and messages by pointing to the folder where you stored your messages. Then go into tools-accounts and import the mail settings you saved.
