Yikes. the "Ladies" of fame of which you speak are likely the Mount Vernon Ladies Association and Pamela Cunningham c.1850s;  Without whom the "Laddies" might not have discovered a lucrative niche in the "history trade" - taken over the field - and relegated those "Ladies" to the docent chair.
