Joy, I'm not sure which of us this is directed at, but you make my point
exactly:

"I'm wondering... what
makes the statistics that prove the opposite more reliable? You could make
a case that every group that does studies on anything has a vested interest
in proving one outcome or another."

I am making that case! Exactly that case! Makes no difference if its MADD,
NRA, HCI...anyone who has an agenda is going to look for a way to say, "See!
See! We told you so!."

I'm sorry it took me so long to reply on this... it's been a hectic week.

You said you don't trust the stats I provided that show that the death
penalty is more expensive than life imprisonment. I'm wondering... what
makes the statistics that prove the opposite more reliable? You could make
a case that every group that does studies on anything has a vested interest
in proving one outcome or another... so why are you confident in statistics
that you agree with, but not those that state the opposite of what you
believe?

Have a safe and happy Halloween, everyone! I'm getting ready to go out
now... my costume is a stressed-out student. ; )
