Was it?  Complimentary, I mean? I certainly took "eminently practical" to be a compliment.  Especially when applied to a Noo Yawkuh.  After all, what does any Noo Yawkuh know from practical?  Must be your Midwestern roots.   I "heard" it differently, that I was an insufferable, know-it-all, snide nitwit.  I think you're just confusing the private views of those of us who know you with what the reviewer was saying for public consumption.
