Dana: I suggest that you can try installing the 2nd CD as Master (or slave) into the secondary IDE controller. Remember that you must have a Master device (at least) in any controller if you want to connect a 2nd device. HTH s | I've been trying to install a second CD-ROM to my 1.4GHz Athlon system. My | existing CD-RW is recognized as Master on the IDE2 controller but if I try | connecting the second drive, an older 6X, as slave Windows fails to | recognize either CD. Both CDs are recognized during bootup by the bios. | When I enter the bios setup both CDs are listed. One as Master and the | other as Slave but after completing bootup neither one shows in My Computer | and in the System Device Manager I have an error in the Secondary IDE | controller that says the controller is either not working or the driver is | not installed. I tried reinstalling the driver but I get the message that | the best driver is already installed. I've tried all combinations of jumper | pin placement on the 6X but none seem to solve the problem. I'm stumped. | | PCBUILD's List Owners: | Bob Wright<[log in to unmask]> | Drew Dunn<[log in to unmask]> | PCBUILD's List Owners: Bob Wright<[log in to unmask]> Drew Dunn<[log in to unmask]>
