I don't know if this is applicable to your particular Cannon printer,
but in the past, I have experienced problems using printer share devices
and the old parallel ZIP drives with several types of Cannon printers.
If I remember correctly, they were all bjc series printers.

On some of the units, Canon offered a driver that over came the problem
but the drivers were always quirky and lacked allot of the features and
software that the original drivers offered. Others, I was told by Canon
were just unable to function thru any type of device that interfered
with the way the printer communicated with the computer.

To answer your question, I would guess that out of the three choices
offered, that EPP would be the correct setting. It has been a while, but
I think that it should have the setting EPP+ECP and that would be the
most desired for most newer parallel port printers.

I am trying to help someone with setting up an auto-switch parallel port
printer switch. He is not familiar with configuration of parallel ports,
but I managed to get him into the CMOS setup and find the EPP/CPP/normal
mode setup. It has been a long time since I used one. Can someone tell
me which parallel port mode should be use with such automatic switches?
It is a Cannon C5000 printer that is the target. So far, he has not been
able to print trough the auto-switch. He tried two different brand
switches and neither works for him. The OS is Windows 98.

Thanks for any input.
