Guess I'm muddled here, but what's so wrong with that?  At least he said,
"Hi."  She was obviously uninjured, and the house was on fire.  The top
priority was the fire (I guess, I'm not a firefighter).  Well, first they save
lives, then the house, so if she was obviously OK, then he had to get right to
the fire.
