Dear EASI List Members, I am conducting a study through which I hope to identify some of the factors and variables that help make postsecondary assistive technology programs especially effective. From my many years of experience in this field, I have some sense of some practices that are particularly effective. Admittedly, though, many of the improvements that I have made to my own program have been based on practices I have observed at other institutions, or from just talking shop with other assistive technology professionals. Therefore, through my present study, I am hoping to pick the brains of as many assistive technology professionals as possible, and then share that information so many may benefit from each other's experience and knowledge base. The results of my study will be presented at an upcoming conference and a journal article may follow as well. I know that much has been done in this area, both from Dr. Coombs, the NC State University Study, and others. I have incorporated the results of these works in my paper. However, I want to look at the issue of quality postsecondary assistive technology programs from some perspectives not addressed in the current literature. Therefore, I have developed a very informal and simple survey questionnaire to help supplement that which we already know. I am looking for volunteers to participate in this survey. If you are an individual working directly in postsecondary assistive technology in any capacity, you are eligible to participate in this survey. More than one individual from the same institution may participate. Please respond directly to me (offline) if you would be willing to give 15 minutes of your time to complete this survey. The instrument is in plain text e-mail format. Just drop me a short note at [log in to unmask] and I will send the survey to you.
