<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> hi list-mates: i've gotten frustrated lately because there are some pretty neat things coming out it food stores that i've bought just to come home, call the manufacturer and get an unsatisfactory answer. so i have found a wonderful way to not buy things i can't use (i'm sure i didn't "invent" this, but i haven't seen it on here before). if it's during the day and you have a healthy amount of minutes on your cell phone, pick up something you're interested in, and if you're not sure about it, call the manufacturer, right there in the store. i've done it a number of times and it works great. here are the two latest things i bought that we can have: pop secret has a new popcorn called "old fashioned kettle corn" (the sweet and salty kind). i called them (betty crocker 1-800-845-2801). they said that they will clearly mark any gluten ingrediants on their labels (including sources for modified food starch). so if you don't see the bad stuff listed, it's not there. also, sunkist has a new product called "almond accents" which can be eaten as a snack or sprinkled on a salad. i called them (1-800-528-6887) and talked to a gentleman named "jim" and he said all their almond accents flavors (except their teriyaki which they are discontinuing) are gf. one of the flavors has vinegar though and i didn't ask it's source or whether it was distilled.... bon apetit! jenn in illinois
