The problem is probably that you just have a very slow oxidative metabolism.
  Fat and protein take longer to break down and digest than carbohydrates
so with a slow oxidation it would make sense why eating lots of fat would
leave you bogged down.  You probably do better on carbs and find you get a
somewhat stable energy supply even from so called "bad" carbs.  A fast
oxidizer on the other hand tends to oxidize carbs and all foods fairly
quickly and this is where the negative effects of eating high carb diets
come in.  For someone like this adding high fat and protein foods tends to
balance their metabolism and energy.
