Unless you can get that cage open that is the only way that you are going to be able to replace the fan is to get it directly from Micron...your first call should have been to Micron to see if that partituclar part is proprietary...it sounds like it is... Steve >>> [log in to unmask] 01/05/02 10:10AM >>> I finally ordered the new case fan and now I can't figure out how to get it installed. I feel like such a dunce. I'm not mechanically inclined by nature but I know this is a simple problem. I hope I can explain my dilemma clearly. I have a Micron Millenia XKU 300Mhz tower case. The current case fan (which is badly in need of replacing) is inside of a small plastic cage that just hooks into the tower case. Here's my problem. I can't see any way of opening the small detachable plastic cage to get the new fan inside it. I don't want to break it. I called Micron tech support and they said because it was and older model (only 3 1/2 years) that they couldn't pull up a picture of it. So they were no help. Does anyone have a clue as to what I'm talking about or is anyone familiar with older Micron cases? The fan definitely needs to be replaced. It makes terrible thwack, thwack noises on startup and stays noisy. Did I make a mistake by not buying the replacement fan directly from Micron (that's a whole other story)?
