You can almost bet that if the HDD starts crunching for more than 10 seconds you have a booting system that isn't displaying video. But, in all likelihood, the system isn't booting at all. Reseat the various cards that came with your system. Check ALL the connectors on the HDD(s), floppy and CD-ROM drives. (Although a disconnected cable, by itself, can't cause this problem.) You also want to make sure the RAM is seated properly and even the CPU. Also, you can start pulling parts. If, after having pulled one part, the system starts to boot, try to repeat the problem by replacing the part. Good luck. Cheers, Mike...
