Hi Hal, > Is it possible XP did something to my motherboard, sound card, modem?? > Flashed an eeprom? > > Any ideas? I do not think that XP could do "something" to your hardware. I run Win2K and have had 98 and 95 both on the machine; KT7-RAID, 900 Tbird etc... A few ideas... 1. I ran into a similar problem when I tried to run CD drives off of the IDE RAID along with the HDs. Abit states you should only run HD drives on the IDE RAID. If you are set up with the HD drives on the IDE RAID; 2. Are you running the correct drivers for each operating system? 3. Check the BIOS settings out, including the HP and double check they are correct for your configuration. Do you have DMA enabled/disabled for your drives? 4. If you have not already, try the KT7 faq at http://www.viahardware.com/faq/kt7/kt7faq.htm If you cannot resolve your problem here, you may want to try alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.abit I also installed Win2K w/o the ACPI and resolved a number of Sound Card issues among other things. You might try that. good luck. Eric Heath There is no escape from our own imperfect selves. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
