<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> I know that, I only said I was originally diagnosed type I. My sister died of renel failure at age 42. and when I went into DKA because gliberide wasnt doing the trick they said I was type I. However I know that since I have found my intolerance to wheat and my body appears not to be fighting auto immune) its self I have been able to control my diabetes by diet. I know that I am making insulin and my pancreas is working as a matter of fact now I have to watch out , because I tend to go hypo glycemic. No one has really been able to explain the exacts of why , my body seemed to be fighting against itself in the way it was, but I,m happy I found out, that simply by staying away from yeast, wheat and sugar I can be in reasonable control of my life. Yes I know this would be Type II. because I obviously do make insulin, or I would be in DKA again and probably dead. I am now in a remission from CFS and Fibromyalgia and controlling my diabetes with a strict diet. My letter before was simply to alert the gentleman who wanted to simply be non compliant with his insulin. Just go cold turkey and for him to be awaur of the dangers of diebetic retinopathy. I was originally diagnosed as a type I and was taking 40 units a day and still completely out of control. I am aware this was a wrong diagnosis obviously. I just wonder how many other people with a wheat intolerance is taking insulin when if they can adhere to a diet free of the gluttons they may actually do remarkably better. I even wonder if my sister wouldnt be alive today , knowing what I do now. She threw up all the time.
