(gasp) Actually is is not such as bad thing to filter your whole house...saves appliacnes like washers, dishwashers and ice makers. Removes VOCs from the water which you would otherwise absorb through skin and lungs while showering. You should put nothing on your skin which you would not put into your mouth, because skin is actually quite permeable (which is why transdermal medicated patches are effective.) Also good to filter your outdoor water, chlorine and VOCs kill the bacteria needed for healthy soil and plants. Though you might not bother with this if your water comes from a well.
