PCBUILD Digest - 11 Jul 2000 to 12 Jul 2000 (#2000-195)Hi, I've got two colour monitors (TVM & ViewSonic). They give off voltage on the earthing pin after being used for sometime. Due to this high voltage on the earth pin, other parts of the computer like casing, modem, printer or other metallic surface also have this voltage and I get a shock if I accidentally touch them. I think this is also the reason for one of my MB being fried. What could be wrong with the monitor ? (My guess is some component inside the monitor is leaking the voltage/current from live pin after it heats up.) This has been going on for around a year. Only recently did I find out that the monitor was the culprit for the electrical shocks. I had thought it might be faulty house wiring or faulty SMPS and checked them all and was baffled. I'm excited I located the source of the problem but now how do I rectify it ? Also, the ViewSonic colour monitor, its sometimes very difficult or impossible to read characters when using some DOS prorams (eg FoxPro) which have blue background and in Windows also, I think the green colour it shows is not correct (dark green). Could the voltage leakage may be the cause of this also ? Bharat The NOSPIN Group Promotions is now offering special "Free-After-Rebate" Software specials in conjunction with Beyond.com.
