This is my first post to the list, so please bare with me. I have an old 486/66 machine running Windows 3.11 to which I recently tried to add some memory. After doing so, I ran setup, the additional memory was sucessfully recognized, and the system passed the POST. However, upon reaching the "Starting MS-DOS" screen, the system just hangs. Pressing F5 or F8 does nothing except cause the internal speaker to hum, and it won't recognize a bootable floppy in the A: drive (I tried different boot disks). Incidentally, the system ran fine prior to the memory swap, and I have tried putting the original memory back in, and the same symptom is present. I have also tried reseating ribbon cables and the IDE controller card, thinking that perhaps something had been physically disturbed. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I have provided sufficient information. George The NOSPIN Group Promotions is now offering special "Free-After-Rebate" Software specials in conjunction with Beyond.com.
