I need to find the cause of a problem... I just put together a new system: Biostar 6bba motherboard with an Award bios 128MB memory, Celeron 500 with slot 1 adapter, ATX case with 250wt PS, ATI expert 98, Western Digital 10G hard drive, CD rom and HP CD Writer plus, Sound Blaster 128, internal 4 port USB hub, 3com NIC, and an extra parallel port card. It ran fine while I was installing the software, and setting the system up, and before delivery it ran for long periods of time with the screen saver going. I delivered it at noon the other day, and the customer used it off and on all day (he uses the internet to keep track of his stocks) until 10pm when the screen went blank and it began beeping continuous 4 second beeps until the power was turned off. Turning it back on resulted in the same behavior... blank screen & long beeps. Since then, I have found that I can run the computer for about 2 hours (if I have let it rest (to cool off??) for several hours first) before this happens. I put in a new video card, but it did not help. I was thinking heat, but when the computer has just begun to beep I turn it off, and the heat sink and video card feel warm, but not as hot as I have seen on other computers that were working fine. The outside of the power supply near the fan seems warm, while on my computer that runs 24/7 it is actually cool to the touch. Could I be overloading the 250wt power supply with so many things in the computer? The USB hub takes the same power lead as a floppy drive, I have two CD drives, hard drive, and I have never put in a modem, NIC and Parallel port card in the same computer before. I'm just going to start removing things and running the computer, but I would greatly appreciate any suggestions as to what may or may not be causing this.
