How are your modem jumpers set? They should be set to Com 2 and do an auto detect with Win98.You have a conflict with Com 1 and Com 3 as they both use IRQ 4 which is what your mouse is using. Com 2 uses IRQ 3.One way is to delete your mouse and install your modem, then re-install your mouse. The mouse should reinstall at Com 2 and your modem should install at Com 3. Hope this helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: Altaf Hussein <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Monday, April 10, 2000 3:31 AM Subject: [PCBUILD] Wrong naming of COM ports? > Hi all, > > The machine that I work on (233Mhz MMX running on win 98) has an internal > modem.
