I know in the UK we can buy Soy Cream (made by Provamel, called Soya
Dream).  I'd be surprised if there wasn't something similar available in
the US.  It cooks well, but doesn't quite pass the taste test as a
pouring cream (but then neither does any soya product in my experience).

Otherwise, tofu yoghurt should work as well.

Using Soya or Rice milk makes a slightly more sorbet-ish ice cream, but
works quite well.

I posted a very easy recipe without an ice cream maker (wish I had the
money for that sort of thing though) a week or so back, made using a
foodprocessor (which we now also no longer have after I dropped the bowl
last night).
