Since she was pregnant recently, it's hard to say whether her diet
contributed to her high cholesterol or not.

CHOL = HDL+LDL+VLDL, where VLDL=Trig/5, so LDL=CHOL-HDL-Trig/5

Melisa: 1995
LDL:    109
LDL/HDL:1.63

Kirt:   1995
LDL:    98
LDL/HDL:1.55

Eating more saturated fat usually increases cholesterol, but
restricting carbohydrates lowers it, especially triglycerides. The net
result in your case seems fine (I think the ratio TC/HDL is more
important than TC; a ratio TC/HDL=3 is recommended).
