In a recent discussion on the veg-raw e-mail list, references were
made to an alleged "unabridged" version of the book "Enzyme Nutrition"
by Edward Howell. Supposedly the (widely available) version of the book
released by Avery Press, is an abridgement of an earlier version of
the book that is (per the claims), 700+ pages. (The Avery Press version
is much shorter, of course.)

I have asked for citations to confirm the existence of the book; I
have checked a number of computer card catalogs for major University
libraries. So far, no luck: all I can find are the Avery Press
book, and Howell's 1946 book [citation below].

The lack of this book in University libraries is surprising, as
an implied part of the claim was that it was "scientific".

To date, all leads suggest that no such earlier version (700+ pages) of
"Enzyme Nutrition" ever existed. It appears that it may be a "raw
legend" :-).

So, I am asking on the lists: if you have the 700+ page version of
the book, or have a citation for it in a published book, please let
me know. Note that I am NOT interested in the Avery Press version,
(or in citations to that book) as I have it already. Thanks!

Howell's 1946 book:

       Howell, Edward,
The status of food enzymes in digestion and metabolism, by Edward
         Howell.
Chicago, Ill., National Enzyme Co. [1946]
