I computed the percentage of proteins in various foods. Figures are
from the USDA database (I know that the USDA labs are loaded with
people who abuse taxpayers' money, but I believe their figures are
roughly correct).

We note that green vegetables contain MORE proteins than meat. Of
course, for a human it is impossible to eat a significant amount of
proteins from green vegs (to get 2000 calories, you would have to
ingest 7.4 kg = 16.3 lbs of bamboo shoots, or 7.1 kg = 15.7 lbs of
broccoli, or 14.3 kg = 31.5 lbs of lettuce), but a gorilla probably
can. Perhaps this explains why vegan animals can be so strong
(assuming of course that the gorilla's staples also have a 40% protein
content, approximately).
