Hi Diane, and all,

This is also my first post to this list.

I am a nutritionist and a wellness counselor, and I've been a raw
vegan
for 8 years. I am absolutely convinced through my own experience,
through eighteen years of studying nutrition, and the experience of
the
many people that I've had the privilege of working with, that humans
are
meant to be frugivores, eating only fruit and leafy greens, small
quantities of nuts and seeds.

I joined the list hoping to get some insight into what people who eat
raw
animal products believe, and why they do it. So far, I've seen little
if
any substance to back up this idea.

Now that I've probably shot my credentials with the instinctos, I'll
tell
you that in my opinion, eating any amount of garlic is too much,
though if
you're going to eat raw meat, maybe it's not a bad idea to eat some.

Garlic's long been hailed as a natural antibiotic, and this reputation
is
well-deserved. Unfortunately, like most antibiotics, garlic does not
discriminate between beneficial bacteria and "bad" bacteria. It just
kills
everything. Since we have a symbiotic relationship with bacteria, and
depend on them living in our gut to be healthy, consuming anything
that
kills them is not a good idea.

On a raw frugivorous diet, you have no need for garlic, or antibiotics
of
any kind.

Namaste,

Loren
