I think that when a raw food proponent's integrity is questioned,
it hits a nerve that is especially sensitive with those in any
ridiculed minority.  Speaking for myself, I believe that it has to do
mostly with a couple of things:  (1) the desire that fellow raw
food fans not embarrass the rest of us -- we are already considered
kooks by most, we certainly don't need anyone making us look worse
-- and (2) that little voice in the back of my head that pipes up
whenever someone who agrees with me about something turns out to be
a creep, a nutcase, or a fool -- the little voice that says, "See?
It's all a buncha hooey."
