There are indeed risks, especially of inhaling the mercury as the filling
is extracted.  Many dentists don't "believe" in the mercury risks of
amalgam.  Some do.  Please look at the archives under "amalgam" and the
reference to the organization that can help you find a good dentist is
listed in one of my articles.
