this was posted to veg-raw long ago. I deleted the material giving a U.S.
source for the books by Morris Krok, because that person no longer sells
them. Other, very minor, edits were made to improve flow & correct minor
errors.

Morris is not strict about diet, and is a very nice person/gentleman. If
you are looking for books on fruitarianism, his books are undoubtedly the
best available.

TALK BY MORRIS KROK: NOTES

On Saturday, 23 September 1995, Morris Krok, the well-known author of several
books on fruitarianism, yoga, and health, gave a (free) talk at the "RAW
Restaurant" in San Francisco, California. Morris spoke about his health
system based on raw foods and exercise which he calls "Euphorbics". Notes
from his talk are given below, after some preliminary information.

Preliminaries

* Morris Krok lives in South Africa and his books are published there. It may
be difficult to find his books in the U.S. and Canada.

* I arrived 30 minutes early for the talk, and spent that time outside the
restaurant, talking directly with Morris. He is personable, knowledgeable, and
very likeable. We talked about yoga practices, fruit, sprouts, Ayurveda, and
other topics. I enjoyed the opportunity to talk with him.

Notes:

Morris began by saying that he first got into raw foods back in 1951. He
related a childhood incident which taught him the value of purification and
elimination (diarrhea). He has a great love of books, and describes thinking
as waiting for a relevant thought to emerge from the mind. The subconscious
can connect with a greater consciousness. This allows you to tune your self
into a higher intelligence.

He discussed the book, "New Science of Health", by Louis Kuhn; it is apparently
the classic book on nature cure. That book claims that illness is caused by
excess heat in the body, particularly in the stomach and solar plexus area.
The heat is supposedly caused by putrefaction and fermentation of food
(incorrect digestion). The author noted that when animals get sick, they fast,
to stop the causes of the excessive heat. Kuhn prescribed cold water baths,
sitz baths, to cool the body.

Morris then contrasted the Kuhn approach with the use of sun baths, steam baths,
to heat the body from external sources, and eliminate toxins through the skin
by sweating.

Morris described a higher state of being one can experience, a state he has
achieved only in marathon runs (he is an avid runner). He characterized it as
having an extremely clear mind, yet euphoric. One runner he knows reports having
the same feeling constantly, but only if he runs 160 miles per week. Stop
running and the euphoric feeling leaves. Morris compared it to the yogic state
of samadhi (bliss).

To purify the body, one should not starve but "create internal cleansing
pressure". The way to accomplish this is to drink lots of water 30 minutes
before meals, and then to do yogic "stomach pumping" exercise: agni sara dhauti,
and especially nauli kriya. This will shake up the mucus in the digestive organs
and cleanse the area.

One must eat raw food if on such a program; don't combine a cleansing program
with cooked food. The raw food is not limited to fruit; sprouts and most
vegetables are OK. He recommends avoiding mucus-forming foods, and references
Arnold Ehret's work.

One needs to purify the body for yoga, to realize the higher consciousness.
The whole body (every part) has consciousness, not just the mind. Living
right also means thinking right.

The key to purification is: plain water! He told of being sick at age 22, and
curing it by drinking lots of plain water. He mentioned a person who had to use
cloth dhauti, in which one swallows a long, thin cotton cloth (5 meters or
longer), then pulls it out of the stomach - thereby removing a lot of mucus.
The person mentioned had to do the dhauti to be pure enough to do headstand
3 hours per day.

The best water to use is "light" water, i.e., water that has been exposed to
sunlight. This creates osmotic pressure and purges the body of wastes. He told
of using such water to recover from the toxic effects of eating cake.

He talked of a blood washing method: go under a warm shower for 6 hours. He
used that method to eliminate a wart on his arm.

The only universal medicines are: plain water, fresh air, sunshine. Sunshine
has a tonic effect. Is the sun bad or do our bad diets cause problems when we
are in the sun?

An employee at Morris' landholding in Natal used the water cure and simple
exercise to overcome asthma. Making juices a large part of the diet is
recommended as it makes the yogic "stomach pumping" exercises easy. The
peacock pose (hatha yoga pose) is also suggested to strengthen the stomach.

Purify and clean the stomach for a clean mind. This will help you develop
intuition. Raw foods are required for the purification program.

He mentioned that he ate a lot of honey, but it didn't do much for him. Also,
he described how his wife used the water cure to eliminate morning sickness
when she was pregnant (they have 6 children).

Questions:
Q: How can I get down to one meal per day?
A: It's easy if you have water during the day.

Q: How much water to drink?
A: 3 glasses before meals, followed by stomach pumping. Daily total can be up
to 20 glasses if one is using the water cure.
