If I were looking into the safety of eating raw fish, one thing I
would do is have a long talk with an experienced sushi chef.  The
good ones have a wealth of knowledge about checking for disease
and parasites in fish.

Personally, I wouldn't feel so comfortable about eating anything
that came out of Lake Superior, although there are dangers
everywhere.
