In my opinion, a more accurate way to put it would be that there is
no consensus as yet.  There are plenty of people who believe that
they DO, in fact, understand all about cancer, but that they are not
being given a fair hearing.  Most of these people are probably mis-
taken, but some may be correct.  (One interesting development is that
the trophoblast theory of cancer, pretty much abandoned in the early
part of this century, is gaining more and more support and fans in
recent years.  If it turns out to be correct, it certainly wouldn't
be the first time in the history of science that a once-ridiculed
theory has been vindicated.)
