nutritional yeast, and all yeast except that sold specifically for
bread baking, is heated to deactivate it. Otherwise, it could be
harmful to someone with candida.

Popcorn is cooked, but that does not make it "untouchable" or "taboo".
You can actually sprout popcorn, but it is not worth the effort -
the seed hull stays hard even after sprouting.

B-12 sources:
for vegans - supplements or foods fortified with supplements (yeast)
for lacto-vegs: all the above plus raw milk.

Some vegans claim you get enough B-12 if the produce is unwashed,
grown on mineralized soil fertilized with animal manure, and
other conditions. Personally, I have not seen the "proof" for such
claims, yet.
