Well, I lived in Santa Cruz (CA) for about 1 & 1/2 years (while I went to
UC Santa Cruz -- and I moved away from there not because I didn't like it,
but rather for career reasons). For me it was, for the most part, a great
experience living there. However, there's really little point for me to
explain what I liked and didn't like about it, since you'll surely feel
somewhat differently if/when you ever visit/live there. I will say though
that Santa Cruz satisfies all criteria mentioned above. However you might
find some of its residents somewhat annoying. Then again, maybe not. It's
worth checking out and perhaps visiting.
