Yes, this is correct. The horrible taste means, you have no need for
this
stuff. If you still eat it, you put a burden on your body because you
force
it to deal with the PTC (or the salad greens).

A mutation that lets you eat the stuff despite you don't need it? This
means
you are not genetically adapted to it. In the case of PTC this maybe
true
(isolated chemical, not natural). In the case of salad greens it is
not.

So in the case of salad the non-tasters would have a need for the
salad or
at least could metabolize it.
