Peter,
Last year while visiting San Jose I discovered and fell in love with raw
goat's milk (illegal in most states, including Michigan). I have located
a farmer in this area who will sell it to me, but now I no longer want to
take the risk.
I'm afraid I don't have any scientific references for you, but maybe I
could look them up. I just hear overwhelming condemnation of raw milk
and cheese coming from all quarters --- instinctos, macrobiotics,
Hippocrates folk, Dr. Spock, Natural Hygiene (including Harvey & Marilyn
Diamond, the watered-down NH people), T.C. Fry, Ric Lambart, and last but
not least, noted authority Doug Schwartz.
Clearly cooked (pasteurized) milk is deadly; there's even more evidence
of that.
On the other hand, Indian statesman M. Desai lived to be 90-something
(98? --- it's in one of my past M2M letters) on a diet of raw goat's milk
and dried fruit. Go figure.
