I've considered trying some raw fish. I have access to wild lake trout
and the like...I live right by lake Superior...

But I am concerned -- I have read that the biggest tapeworm known to
man, "fish tapeworm" can be readily "caught" by eating raw fish... Also,
I've read that other parasites can be gotten via raw fish ingestion...
However, I've also read that freezing apparently kills the eggs. Is
there any truth to that? Is it really safe to eat raw fish? Also, the
mercury, pcb's, etc. is a concern. And I've read about different forms
of bacteria such as ciguatera(sp?) which may reside in seafood, and
which can be quite serious.

I haven't been craving any, but I thought I might experiment with it. I
did try it twice a couple months ago or so, but cooked (baked). Didn't
feel better for having eaten it..actually felt brought down by it. But
granted, it might be considerably different raw. Just am curious to see
if I might be "brought up in scale" with some raw fish. Who knows.

I'm not planning on eating any, but if I were to decide to do it, it'd
be nice to have some certainty regarding safety.

Thanks for any info,

Wes
