At the risk of stating the obvious, babies are supposed to be breast-fed.
Babies are not supposed to eat adult food until they develop teeth.

Those who blame vegan for the bad health of the baby, would they say that
the baby should have been fed meat? Would adding meat to the diet of a
newborn baby be good?

There is a story about a high-society snob-culture type of lady. When the
doctor suggested to her that she should breast-feed her baby, she thought
that was vulgar. She said: "That's what animals do!"

But that's really the correct way to feed the baby.

If a mother can't or won't breast-feed her baby, then if possible she
should get another woman to do it, a wet nurse.

A baby is not supposed to be a vegetarian or a meatarian, but a
breast-milk-arian.
