Lactose intolerance is due to the fact that Lactase, the enzyme in
milk
which digests lactose is destroyed by heating, ie, in pasteurization.
Many people do not produce lactase, hence, the difficulty in digesting
lactose.

In raw milk, the lactase is still present and active and breaks down
the
lactase.
