The theory is that dental plaque forms mainly between the teeth and near the
gum. The plaque contains bacteria, and sugar feeds bacteria. If you have a diet
which is high in fruit and don't brush your teeth, you'll see the result in a
few months...

Paleolithic men didn't need to brush their teeth because their diet was low in
sugar. And even when they ate sugar, the foods high in fiber they ate afterwards
cleansed their teeth.

If you don't like chemical toothpastes, check in your local health food store,
they may have natural ones. Personally, I brush my teeth after almost each meal
(with a so-called "ayurvedic toothpaste"). There have been too many victims of
the belief that by eating "naturally", you will be free of disease and tooth
decay, I don't want to be the next one.

Best wishes,

Jean-Louis
