Pat McKay is a veterinarian who for decades has been advocating raw foods
for cats and dogs.  She has a website at
http://home1.gte.net/patmckay/index.html.
She has some tips on sterilizing raw meats that might be helpful for sick
people with weak digestive systems.  From her book "Reigning Cats and
dogs", p.16-17:

"Because cats and dogs are carnivores and raw meat is their natural food,
their digestive juices in most cases take care of salmonella, Escherichia
coli and other unfriendly bacteria that cause food poisoning.  Many
allopathic veterinarians oppress the feeding of raw meat and tend to
unjustly blame the salmonella, E coli and parasites from a weakened
digestive system and/or an autoimmune condition.  Enlightened holistic
veterinary practitioners realize this and encourage their clients to feed
raw meat.
If you still are concerned about feeding raw meat, and especially if you
have an animal who is already having digestive or autoimmune problems, you
may use hydrogen peroxide (H202), grapefruit seed extract or colloid silver
to prepare the meat before feeding.
In addition to controlling salmonella, H202, grapefruit seed extract and
colloidal silver are natural preservatives.
To control the possibility of unfriendly bacteria and parasites add one of
the following: 1 tablespoon of 3 percent food-grade hydrogen peroxide OR 4
drops of grapefruit seed extract liquid concentrate OR I teaspoon of
colloidal silver to 6 ounces of purified water and pour over one pound of
ground poultry.  Mix the liquid with the meat until it is completely
absorbed into the ground meat.
If you are marinating whole  chunks of poultry, let the meat soak in the
hydrogen peroxide, the grapefruit seed extract or the colloidal silver for
an hour or so while refrigerated to  give the antibacterial agent time to
absorb."
