Was 136 your fasting glucose level? I believe some of Aajonus' claims,
like honey having an insulin effect, are not based on any scientific
backing. I too have a damaged pancreas (from past addiction to
prescription drugs and alcohol) and am concerned about how much sugar I
eat. My glycosylated hemoglobin is normal and I am not diagnosed as
diabetic, but I have a somewhat delayed insulin response. I eat all raw
food. Here is some self-tesing I've done, usually in the AM on an empty
stomach.

My fasting glucose is normal 80-90. If I eat 4 TBS honey 1hr glucose is
250. After 8 dates it goes up to about the same.

4 TBS honey after 2 oz walnuts---1 hr glucose is 130
after fatty raw mackeral---124
after 1 TBS olive oil---180
after 1 TBS cod liver oil---180

1 orange, 2 pears, 1/2 banana---120
1 orange, 2 pears, 1 banana---130
1 mango, 2 figs, 2 dates---150
1 egg, 4 dates---190
1 cucumber, 1 brocoli stalk---120
1/2 cantelope, 1 apple, 2 figs---150
1 mango, 4 figs---130
4 dates with a macadamea nut in each---180
4 pears, 3 eggs, 2 TBS honey---160
1 TBS bones marrow, 2 lamb chops---120, 1 hr later 4 dates, after 1 hr.
glucose was 140.

As you see, I've been playing around, and decided to eat honey only
after something fatty and not too much at that.

My best, Ellie
