There are better ways to do this ...you might try Lifesaver
http://nospin.com/rode/rode104.html . You can use Lifesaver to restore your
system files without loading windows...from a boot floppy.
However I wrote these batch files a long time ago for win95 but they should
work fine with win98....run them from DOS or a boot floppy....you will have
to put in your own path depending on where you put windows...or run them in
the windows directory
Backup Reg
@echo off
attrib -h -s system.dat
attrib -h -s user.dat
if exist system.dar attrib -h -r -s system.dar
if exist user.dar attrib -h -r -s user.dar
copy system.dat system.dar /v /y > null
copy user.dat user.dar /v /y > null
attrib +h +s system.dat
attrib +h +s user.dat
attrib +h +r system.dar
attrib +h +r user.dar
Restore Reg
@echo off
attrib -h -r -s system.dat
attrib -h -r -s user.dat
if exist system.dar attrib -h -r -s system.dar
if exist user.dar attrib -h -r -s user.dar
if exist system.dar copy system.dar system.dat /v /y > null
if exist user.dar copy user.dar user.dat /v /y > null
attrib +h +s +r system.dat
attrib +h +s +r user.dat
if exist system.dar attrib +h +s +r system.dar
if exist user.dar attrib +h +s +r user.dar
