Mary, I don't think the "show desktop" icon and the QuickLaunch bar
appeared until Win98. Your friend could experiment with Bill's solution,
but I doubt that would work in W95.
Here are a few things that might work;
1. Microsoft's Power Toys for Win95 had a desktop icon that sat in the
system tray, (by the clock), which, when clicked, would pop-up a menu with
all the icons of the desktop.
2. If your friend has a keyboard with the "Windows" key, type "Win-d" to
perform the same function as the Show Desktop icon. See MS Knowledge
Base article Q126449 for more keyboard shortcuts.
3. Lacking a windows keyboard, "Alt-m" will minimize all windows when the
focus is on the taskbar, (click a blank space on the taskbar first), but
this can't be toggled to restore the original condition.
4. Browse freeware web sites for similar utilities.
