It would be convenient to FTP graphic files to a web site
with gaps and capital letters in the .jpg file name. For
example "John and Jane.jpg" or "Dads birthday.jpg". It
seems some web site servers will accept this some whilst
some do not accept file name gaps.

Is this something to do with one server running on
Unix/Linux and another Windows? If so, which way round is
it?

The reason for the query is that IrfanView has a time
saving feature where it will produce automatically from a
folder of .jpg´s a thumbnail index .html page and
individual .html pages for each of the original size
.jpg´s. A very quick way of producing an index to a set of
photographs. The templates that IrfanView uses can be
edited so that you have your own design of web page.

IrfanView uses the file names to produce captions and
obviously the captions look a lot better with appropriate
gaps in them rather than an underline to "mimic" gaps. It
is possible to go through the .html files afterwards
editing in appropriate gaps but this then defeats a lot of
the original time saving.

I want to do the minimum possible, which seems to me to
give each .jpg file a descriptive name. IrfanView will then
do the rest.

Be pleased to hear others comments on this problem.
