Norton Antivirus 5.01.01b "holds" and scans downloaded files just
after you receive them.  Then it releases them to your "system".
It also does anything else I wanted in an Anti-virus program.
It is easy to update, over the Internet.
Side Warning to anyone buying an Antivirus Program in a store.
           Update it RIGHT AWAY!!!
I used McAfee years ago, and thought highly of it then.
