Laurence, there are many programs that will backup and restore your
emails. Just do a search on Google for OE backups. These backups can be
burnt to a CD and when copied back to the hard dive are marked as
archive and can be accessed for importing back to Outlook Express. It is
only necessary to import the actual folders you need.

thank you for the suggestion. the think is i want to get much of the old
mail off my computer to free up the hard disk... i was thinking of
putting it on a cdrom... is there no way to import it all back again if
i need to find old backed-up e-mail. is there any way to "read" the
"read only" files on the cd once i've put them there? " open with "
