Hello Donna,

Short answer: No, it isn't true. The 32 GB limitation only applies to
Windows 95. Windows 98 and Windows 98 Second Edition have a limitation with
correctly displaying the capacity for drives larger than 64 GB. This
limitation does not result in data loss and is not a 'major' problem. So,
continue shopping and watch for sales with rebates... I bought a 40 GB drive
last week for $19.99 after rebates.

I have a question for anyone in the group. My boyfriend has an old HP
computer that's running on Windows 98. It only has a 9.6 gig hard drive in
it. He
wants to buy a new hard drive because it's been acting odd lately and he
thinks its going to go down. We've been shopping for hard drives and you
are hard
pressed to find one under 40 gig now. He was told by a friend that Windows
98
will not recognize a hard drive over 32 gig. Is this true? I was told by
someone else that all we had to do was update the bios by downloading it
from
the HP website and it should work. Now I'm confused. Can someone set the
record straight so we know what to buy? Thanks!
